Guest post

Hello Vagabonde friends! I am Vagabonde's eldest daughter, who has a far less impressive blog here. My Mother said I could publish a guest post in her absence...

My parents have just come back from their very long trip. I can't wait to see all the pictures and adventures. Until then, I thought I would share the postcards that I received from them. I have a whole album of all the postcards that my parents send me. No matter how short the trip is or how near or far, they always send me postcards. I am one lucky daughter.

This postcard I got a week or so ago. Obviously, it is from Italy. My Mother writes that they were no cars there and that the roads were like 6 foot wide or less. She also mentioned that she and my Father were taking a water bus everywhere so I am curious to hear more about that!

This one I just got in the mail today. It was from a "lovely little town near the original Olympia, birth of the Olympic games." She also mentioned that they were enjoying beautiful weather.

This colors in the postcard seem so Greek to me; don't you agree? I am sure she must have gotten me this one because earlier this year I adopted a truly feral kitten that looks very similar to the one in the postcard. It started with me and my parents feeding her while I was staying in a corporate apartment in Atlanta.

Fluffy (the feral) checks out an empty pot in my backyard,
while Jem sniffs around

I couldn't bear to leave her when I went to Memphis, so although catching her was pretty rough, I did. I took her to the vet, got all her shots and microchip and then she was popped into the car and taken to Memphis with my other cats, who now love her!

Hi there,
eldest daughter.

Guess what, I am another lucky recipient of Vagabonde’s postcards, although it is only one from each trip, but always a well-chosen one.

Your Mama is an adventurous lady and I can only marvel at her stamina and determination to miss not a single part of this wonderful world we live in. One of these days she is going to come to a place near where I live - although that will be difficult, as I live at the end of the civilised world - and she and I will finally meet in person.

What a surprise to find Vagabonde's daughter posting in the usual place!
You are, indeed, lucky to be thought of through all those exotic trips.
Nice to meet you!

I have not traveled much out of the states but had the pleasure to go to Greece and some of it's islands for a few weeks 20 years ago. It was one of the greatest adventures of my life.

How wonderful to see this post from you, along with the postcards that surely show that you appreciate that art form as much as your mom does.

(I treasure my fortune in actually having been able to meet your parents and look forward to more shared times with them in the future.)

What a lovely guest blog! And what a good idea. I'll have to follow that idea and ask my own daughters to blog for me! Well done with that cats! They seem to adopt you, don't they? They find a house and decide to stay.
Beautiful postcards as always. Your mother has a wonderful eye for them.

How wonderful to get a chance to meet you in this place! I look forward to all the pictures and adventures, too. I love that picture of the once-feral cat. I can see why VB sent you that lovely postcard. :-)

Great guest blog. My parents did the same: they always sent me a post card from whereever they visited.
Hope they enjoy Venice; it's one of our favorite places!
Glad you kept the cat--we have 2; one came from a rescue center the other was a French foundling we took on.

Friko - I am very curious now as to where "the end of the civilised world" is!!

Jeanne - thanks for stopping by my little blog. It certainly is not to the caliber of my mother's but I have fun with it!

Old Lady of the Hills - I hope you are doing well. Memphis is treating me fine. I love experiencing fall with all the leaves changing colors. But I still consider Southern CA my true home and have dedicated my home office to all sorts of pictures from when I was there....

Fennie, DJan - yes, my little kitty adopted me. She was born in the wild with three other kittens, and although I fed them all, she was the only one that would venture outside and then refuse to leave. She knew what she was doing! LOL She is one very happy kitty now and very affectionate - which means so much as I couldn't even touch her for weeks...

Niall & Antoinette - I have two other rescues but they were rescued as kittens so not really feral like Fluffy who was already 9 months or so according to the vet. I wish more people would get their kitties spayed and neutered and always try and adopt rescue kitties when they can. ♥

val's alentejo blogspot.com, Sacha, Frances, Jojo, Starting Over, Accepting Changes - Maybe, Pondside - thank you so much for all the lovely comments too!!

Well, now I guess I am going to spend the rest of the day reading all of your lovely blogs!!

Bienvenue to your mother's blog eldest daughter, nice to meet you!

Your parents go to these wonderful places and all you get is a postcard or two?! ;o)

My parents also remember my sisters and me on their trips and we usually get a nice postcard too. We return the favour and send them one whenever we're out and about. Kind of reminds us all of the old days when any trip involved all 5 of us! Kind of hard to do that now we're all grown up and living in different countries...

And cute cat! :o)

Nice to meet you and my best to your Mama.
That Greek blue reminds me of a holiday in Alonissus when a German lady - who lived there - wanted me to smuggle a packet of the blue dye that makes the paint to her British boy friend.
Security was very high then - in the eighties - and I was very scared going through customs. Should I have said no I wonder?

Dear Vagabonde's daughter, I'm so glad you posted because I was worried about your mom. I hadn't realized she'd gone on a long trip and I thought that she might be ill. So I'm relieved to learn that she's in Greece and enjoying herself--as she always does!

I, too, love cats and I'm smiling at your adopting and befriending a feral cat who now fits in with the other cats in your home. What a lovely story. Peace.

Enjoyed your guest blog and parents post cards. Glad they're able to continue to travel -- so much to see in the world -- so little time.
